Zipper is a one minute short film that has been selected to be screen at the Raindance Film Festival 2020.
The film focuses on a teenage girl whose body image is impacted by a prominent heart surgery scar. It highlights how the various, often subtle messages communicated to her, from a brief word by a family member to a serendipitous encounter with a stranger, have the potential to greatly influence her confidence and sense of self-worth.
The scars shown in the film are the genuine scars of two actors who are both heart patients. The film, with nearly 3000 views, has received praise from heart charities and those who share the unique experience of having a ‘zipper’ scar as a result of heart surgery.
